In this new collection of paintings, I've decided to explore images of people waiting. Their clothing and attitudes are sometimes in harmony and sometimes in contrast to their environment, but these relationships between the subjects and background are what interest me. While they pass the time, lost in thoughts, they fail to notice how interesting their surroundings really are, as we so often do. I'm painting scenes of our urban world as I like to see it: full of fascinating colors, textures, and imagery, both on our bodies and on our walls, but largely overlooked as we go from place to place lost in our own lives and dramas |
